Job summary

Arriva Kent Thameside Limited is offering a Trainee Bus Driver role at the Southend depot. You will undertake full paid training to obtain your PCV licence at Arriva Training School, followed by mentoring as you begin driving on a rotating 5 days in 7 schedule.

Overtime and development opportunities are highlighted, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service. The position supports community transport, with a shift pattern starting as early as 04:00 and finishing as late as 01:00,

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• UK driving licence with minimum 6 months experience.
• No more than 6 points on licence.
• Will undergo drug and alcohol test before assessment.
• Must pass English comprehension test.

Responsibilities

• Drive as part of a rotating shift pattern (4 AM - 1 AM depending on start).
• Provide safe, reliable passenger transport and assist customers.
• Adhere to company policies and CPC/training requirements.

Job Description (Advert) Trainee Bus Driver

£12.71 per hour - £17.26 per hour

Pay Rate

During Training (the first 4-6 weeks) - £12.71 per hour

After Training: £12.71 per hour (0-9 months); After 9 months: Weekday £16.85 per hour / Weekends & OT £17.26 per hour

What’s in it for you?

Full paid training where you'll receive your PCV licence - you'll go through our Arriva Training School and learn everything you need to know about being a Bus Driver. The training generally last approx. 4 weeks and will take place at our Southend depot before you then work with a mentor for a further few weeks.

Hours of work and role: A rotating shift pattern of 5 days in 7, published up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts. Mornings starting from 04:00, Afternoons start from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis. We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately. Overtime available.

Requirements

• Great people skills.
• Flexibility as your shifts will start as early as 4AM in the morning but will always work no later than 1AM depending on the time that you start.
