Job summary

West Coast Motors is recruiting for Trainee Bus Drivers at our Rothesay depot on the Isle of Bute. No prior bus driving experience required; we provide in-house training, funding and support to obtain your PCV licence, with training costs covered up to £2,500.

You will connect communities across the Isle of Bute, operating modern buses on scenic routes and joining a supportive local team in a varied role where no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• At least one year’s driving experience.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Professional, dependable and safety-focused approach.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• To live on the Isle of Bute, or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes and other allocated work.
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger.
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time.
• Provide travel information and assistance to customers when required.
• Handle cash and card payments accurately and responsibly where required.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects in line with procedures.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and professionalism.
• Represent West Coast Motors positively through driving standards, appearance and customer care.

Trainee Bus Drivers

to join our friendly team at our depot in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.

You do not need previous bus-driving experience to apply. Through our in-house training school, we will provide the training, support and funding you need to gain your PCV licence and begin a rewarding career as a professional Bus Driver.

We will cover training costs up to the value of £2,500, including theory and practical tests, travelling expenses and accommodation, subject to terms and conditions.

Working on the Isle of Bute

Based at our depot in Rothesay, you will help connect communities across the Isle of Bute.

Once qualified, you will play an important role in helping local residents travel safely and reliably to work, school, appointments, the shops and other destinations, while also welcoming visitors to the island.

You will operate modern vehicles on some of Scotland’s most scenic routes and become part of a supportive local team in a varied role where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes and other allocated work
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time
• Provide travel information and assistance to customers when required
• Handle cash and card payments accurately and responsibly, where required

What We’re Looking For

• To live on the Isle of Bute, within a reasonable travelling distance of Rothesay, or be willing to relocate
