Job summary

West Coast Motors on the Isle of Bute is seeking Trainee Bus Drivers to join the Rothesay depot. No prior bus-driving experience is required; we provide training to gain your PCV licence and start a rewarding career.

We cover training costs up to £2,500, including theory and practical tests, travel and accommodation, subject to terms. You’ll operate modern buses on local routes, deliver excellent customer service, and contribute to safe, reliable travel.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• At least one year’s driving experience.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Professional, dependable and safety-focused approach.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Confidence to work independently.
• Commitment to completing the training to gain a PCV licence.
• Live on the Isle of Bute within reasonable travelling distance of Rothesay or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes and other allocated work.
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger.
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time.
• Provide travel information and assistance to customers when required.
• Handle cash and card payments accurately and responsibly, where required.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects in line with company procedures.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and professionalism.
• Represent West Coast Motors positively through your driving standards, appearance and customer care.

We have a fantastic opportunity for Trainee Bus Drivers to join our friendly team at our depot in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.

You do not need previous bus-driving experience to apply. Through our in-house training school, we will provide the training, support and funding you need to gain your PCV licence and begin a rewarding career as a professional Bus Driver.

We will cover training costs up to the value of £2,500, including theory and practical tests, travelling expenses and accommodation, subject to terms and conditions.

Working on the Isle of Bute

Based at our depot in Rothesay, you will help connect communities across the Isle of Bute.

Once qualified, you will play an important role in helping local residents travel safely and reliably to work, school, appointments, the shops and other destinations, while also welcoming visitors to the island.

You will operate modern vehicles on some of Scotland’s most scenic routes and become part of a supportive local team in a varied role where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

Once you have successfully completed your training and gained your PCV licence, you will:
