Job summary

Shevington Surgery in Wigan is recruiting an experienced Practice Nurse or Paramedic to begin training as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner. The role combines clinical work with a university programme fully funded by the practice, with around 12 days per week devoted to study, supported by GP Partners and the wider clinical team.

You will develop your ability to assess, diagnose, manage and review a wide range of conditions, progressing toward autonomous clinical decision-making while working

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously whilst recognising limits of competence.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness and ability to undertake university-level study.
• Access to own transport for home visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care.
• Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments.
• Develop advanced clinical examination and diagnostic skills.
• Manage patients with acute and chronic conditions.
• Develop autonomous clinical decision-making within your scope of practice.
• Collaborate with GPs, Practice Nurses, Paramedics and the team.
• Undertake home visits as required.
• Develop skills in assessment and management of complex presentations.
• Participate in supervision and reflective practice.
• Attend university and complete academic requirements for the Advanced Practitioner programme.
