Job summary

Shevington Surgery in Wigan is recruiting an experienced Practice Nurse or Paramedic to begin training as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner. The role combines clinical work with a university programme fully funded by the practice, with around 12 days per week devoted to study, supported by GP Partners and the wider clinical team.

You will develop your ability to assess, diagnose, manage and review a wide range of conditions, progressing toward autonomous clinical decision-making while working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Nurse or Paramedic to join Shevington Surgery as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking clinician who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop their skills within Advanced Clinical Practice. The successful candidate will undertake a recognised Advanced Practitioner training programme, with all university and training fees fully funded by the practice. The role will involve a combination of clinical work within the practice and university study, with approximately 12 days per week dedicated to university, depending on the requirements of the training programme. You will be supported throughout your training by our experienced GP Partners and wider multidisciplinary clinical team., As a Trainee Advanced Practitioner, you will develop your ability to assess, diagnose, manage and review patients presenting with a wide range of clinical conditions. The role will include:

As your training progresses, you will be supported to develop increasing levels of autonomy and responsibility appropriate to your level of competence and experience.

• Registered Practice Nurse or Paramedic.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrable commitment to developing advanced clinical skills.

• Access to own transport, as the role will involve home visits., General Practice experience is preferred but not essential. We would particularly welcome applications from experienced Practice Nurses or Paramedics who are keen to develop their careers within Primary Care., Previous experience working within General Practice or Primary Care.
• Experience managing patients with acute and/or long-term conditions within a primary care setting.

• Previous experience of autonomous clinical assessment and decision-making., Shevington Surgery is a busy and well-established GP practice in Wigan with a list size of approximately 13,700 patients.
