Job summary

Public Health Wales is seeking a trainee abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screener for a Band 4 trainee post. The role is part-time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00) and permanent within the NHS Annex 21 salary framework, covering the North Wales region with occasional travel to other regions of Wales.

The trainee will undertake the Level 4 diploma in AAA screening and Level 3 diploma in fundamentals in health screening.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake the Level 4 diploma in AAA screening and Level 3 diploma in fundamentals in health screening.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination is required for ultrasound screening.
• Trainee role with NHS Annex 21 salary arrangements; training and assessments are part of the programme.

Responsibilities

• Provide information to men attending community screening and surveillance clinics.
• Perform abdominal ultrasound to determine presence of aneurysm and give results and advice.
