Job summary

Chevron Traffic Management is seeking Trainee & Qualified IPV Operatives for night-shift work at Thatcham. You will drive the IPV on high-speed roads, coordinate with clients, and progress through our training pathway to become fully IPV qualified.

A Class 2 licence is required, with potential for a strong welcome package and ongoing career progression. We offer training, guaranteed hours, overtime opportunities, and a supportive team focused on safety and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold Class 2 licence (HGV) and be able to operate IPV safely.
• Existing IPV qualification or willingness to train to become qualified is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations is beneficial.
• Full licence with no more than 6 points; any bans expired at least 5 years ago.”
• Drug and alcohol testing required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate the IPV safely on high-speed works.
• Perform traffic counts, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, manage timings and near misses.
• Utilise IPV qualifications or progress through our training pathway to become qualified.
• Support safe working practices and mentor newer team members.

Your role as an IPV Operative

As part of our high-speed team, you’ll help deliver safe, efficient traffic management on some of the UK’s busiest roads. Depending on your experience, you will either bring your IPV skills from day one or train with us to become fully qualified.

• Drive and operate the IPV safely and professionally on high-speed works
• Undertake traffic counts, calls to clients and subcontractors, timings and near misses
• Use your existing high-speed/IPV qualifications or work towards them through our training pathway
• Support safe working practices and help guide newer team members as you grow in the role

Trainee route available:

If you’re not yet IPV qualified but have the right attitude, commitment and driving experience, we can support you through the training needed to build a long-term career in high-speed traffic management.

What are we looking for?

Essential Requirements

• Licence: Class 2/Category C licence
• Qualified applicants: Existing IPV qualification/high-speed traffic management experience would be highly desirable
• Knowledge: Familiarity with Chapter 8 regulations
• Driving Licence: Full licence with no more than 6 points. Any driving bans must have expired at least 5 years ago
• Testing: Must pass a drug and alcohol test (offer contingent on results)
• Attitude: Positive, "can-do" mindset
• Skills: Adaptability, flexibility, and meticulous attention to detail
• Flexible: Must be able to work permanent nights and shift patterns, including weekends
• Right to work in the UK unsponsored
