With backgrounds working for some of the largest banks in the world, their tight-knit team have years of experience under their belts – and as they continue to grow, they are now looking to find a Trading Operations Analyst to join their team and learn from their expertise.

Job description – Trading Operations Analyst

In this Operations Analyst role, we are looking for an ambitious individual with database management experience to join the operations team. The role involves working closely with traders and senior management and would suit a highly driven candidate looking to advance their career in the investment industry. Take a look at the responsibilities below for more insight:

Key responsibilities - Trading Analyst

  1. Preparation of timely and accurate daily risk reports including P&L, VaR and risk exposure.
  2. Reconciling internal position and P&L reports with external reports and resolving reconciliation issues with clients / clearers where required.
  3. Monitoring of positions relative to limits, communication with traders, and escalation to senior management as necessary.
  4. Updating and maintaining trade analysis tools (including operating the in-house trade and price curves database using MySQL and Python scripting for data manipulation).
  5. Development and maintenance of the firm’s in-house Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system.
  6. Preparation of periodic reports and investment commentary to clients and senior management.

Key requirements - Hedge Fund Trading Analyst

  • A minimum of a 2:1 from University (Analytical/numerical degrees).
  • 1 - 2 years relevant or related industry experience.
  • Technical skills required: database manipulation (must have strong Python scripting skills, proficient in MySQL, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Excel-VBA experience is advantageous).
  • An understanding of commodity markets and/or derivatives an advantage.
  • Must be self-motivated, organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise.
