Job summary

Intact Insurance in Manchester or Leeds seeks an underwriting support professional to help build capability and support profitable trading across Commercial Lines. You will contribute to reliable underwriting support with accurate data and timely case progression.

The role focuses on preparing cases, handling straightforward new business and renewals within guidelines, and collaborating with underwriters to drive efficient workflows while escalating complex risks when needed.

• Apply basic underwriting knowledge to assess risks using systems and processes.
• Deliver high quality outputs within timelines while keeping records accurate.
• Collaborate with underwriters to support workflow and resolve standard queries.
• Escalate non-standard risks or complex scenarios appropriately.

In your role you will build your underwriting capability while supporting high quality trading outcomes across Commercial Lines Profin. Your contribution will help deliver consistent service, support profitable growth, and strengthen collaboration across the underwriting team. You’ll make an impact by:

• Supporting underwriting activity through preparation of cases, data gathering, and accurate administration to enable effective trading decisions.
• Handling straightforward new business and renewal activity within defined underwriting frameworks and guidelines.
• Applying basic underwriting knowledge and judgement to assess risks using systems, tools, and established processes.
• Delivering high quality outputs within agreed timelines while maintaining accurate records and data integrity.
• Collaborating with underwriters and colleagues to support workflow, resolve standard queries, and ensure smooth case progression.
• Escalating non standard risks or complex scenarios appropriately to support sound decision making.

Your skills and experience:

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and consistent outputs.
• Ability to interpret data and apply guidance to support decision making.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with colleagues and contribute to team outcomes.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to tackle workloads and deliver tasks within a structured environment
• Ability to use digital tools and systems such as Excel or similar platforms to support underwriting activity
