Grant & Stone Plumbing is recruiting a Trade Counter Sales Assistant for our Oxford branch. You will help both trade and retail customers at the counter, process orders, and provide product recommendations while building strong customer relationships.

We seek a reliable, customer-focused individual with plumbing merchant experience, a full UK driving licence, and confident communication skills. The role covers varied duties with training and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience at a trade counter or plumbing merchant.
• DIY or trade background preferred.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Good product knowledge in plumbing and heating.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers at the counter and over the phone.
• Process customer orders and enquiries.
• Recommend products and solutions to customers.
• Build relationships with existing customers and spot new sales opportunities.
• Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Maintain strong knowledge of products and technical details.
• Support branch with day-to-day tasks and ensure safety procedures.

We’re now looking for a reliable and customer‑focused Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our team at our Oxford Branch

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serving trade and retail customers at the counter
• Processing customer orders and enquiries face‑to‑face and over the phone
• Recommending products and solutions to meet customer needs
• Building strong relationships with existing customers and identifying new sales opportunities
• Resolving customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally
• Maintaining strong product and technical knowledge
• Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
• Supporting the branch with general day‑to‑day tasks

What We’re Looking For

• Trade counter or plumbing merchant experience
• DIY, builders’ merchant, or trade background (preferred)
• Full UK driving licence
• Good industry and product knowledge
• Confident communication and customer service skills
• Basic numeracy skills (addition & subtraction)
• Ability to prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision
• Friendly, approachable, and a strong team player
• Willingness to undertake training and develop in the role

Working Hours

Week 1:

• Monday–Friday 07:30-17:15

Week 2:

• Monday–Friday 07:30-17:15
• Saturday 08:00–12:00
