Job summary

Network Rail in Barnham is seeking a safety‑focused Track Maintenance Technician to support the Team Leader, organise the crew, and ensure work is delivered to the highest standards. You will inspect track assets, diagnose faults, carry out maintenance and renewal work, and occasionally lead the team.

The role requires proven experience in planning safe systems of work, a strong team ethic, knowledge of track maintenance techniques, and a willingness to drive.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in planning and implementing safe systems of work.
  • Strong team player with the ability to embed a culture of safety.
  • Knowledge of track maintenance techniques, including inspection, faulting, and renewal.
  • Relevant competencies for the role (or willingness to achieve them).
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to drive.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver work safely and efficiently in line with approved systems, standards and procedures.
  • Carry out inspections, maintenance and fault-finding on track infrastructure to keep the network running smoothly.
  • Ensure tools, vehicles and equipment are fit for use and properly maintained.
  • Accurately report completed work and maintain essential records.
