Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd is seeking a Town Planner to join a growing property developer in Leeds. The role covers the full planning lifecycle from site appraisals to securing planning permission and supporting construction.

You will liaise with planning authorities and internal teams, prepare planning documents, and contribute to strategy across multiple projects UK-wide. MRTPI is advantageous; strong communication and organisation are essential.

Qualifications

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Experience within planning consultancy, local authority or private-sector development.
• Sound understanding of the UK planning system and development management process.
• Experience preparing planning applications, planning statements and development appraisals.
• Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• MRTPI status or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate planning applications for a range of development projects across the UK.
• Undertake planning appraisals and assess the suitability of potential development sites.
• Review local and national planning policy to identify opportunities, constraints and development potential.
• Prepare planning statements, application documents and supporting technical reports.
• Liaise with local planning authorities, external consultants and key stakeholders to progress applications.
• Work collaboratively with internal land, design and technical teams to develop effective planning strategies.
• Monitor applications, manage deadlines and proactively resolve planning challenges.
• Provide planning advice to support land acquisition decisions and maximise the potential of prospective sites.

The Opportunity

Our client, an established and growing UK-wide property developer, is looking to appoint a Town Planner to join its team in Leeds.

With a strong pipeline of development projects across the UK, this is an excellent opportunity to join an established business with an in-house development team and play a key role in bringing forward new sites.

Working closely with colleagues across land, design and technical teams, you will be involved throughout the planning process, from initial site appraisals and feasibility assessments through to securing planning permission and supporting projects towards construction.
