Job summary

The Rosalind Franklin Institute in Didcot, Oxfordshire invites applications for a Research Associate in Topological Data Analysis for Cell Biology. The role focuses on applying persistent homology and topological data analysis to classify cellular structures in 2-D microscopy and 3-D tomograms, supporting the VirtuAI Cell project.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team to develop data representations and ML-friendly features, publish outputs, and supervise students.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent required; submitted candidates considered.
• Experience applying persistent homology to biological data is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and communicate results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Apply persistent homology to classify cellular structures in 2-D/3-D imaging data.
• Collaborate with cell biology experts to interpret results.
• Develop data representations and ML-friendly features for cellular datasets.
• Supervise students or visitors and contribute to research outputs (papers/patents).
• Plan data acquisitions with experimentalists and deliver outputs (reports/patents).
