Job summary

The Rosalind Franklin Institute invites applications for a Research Associate to develop stem cell and blastoid culture models, integrating mass spectrometry, cryo-ET, imaging, and AI-driven analysis. You will generate robust biological systems for multimodal data, and drive discovery of determinants of cell fate with computational validation loops.

Qualifications

  • PhD/DPhil in a relevant field or equivalent.
  • Experience establishing stem cell culture systems.
  • Strong imaging and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication for manuscripts and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Take care of a stem cell line, including occasional weekend work.
  • Learn and apply advanced research imaging techniques to understand structural details of the stem cell line.
  • Attend scientific seminars and meetings to stay updated on developments in stem cell culture, use and imaging.
  • Disseminate results through manuscript preparation and presenting at scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to the public engagement science programme of the Franklin.
  • Plan and conduct experiments, analyze results, and deliver outputs in a scientific/technology area.
  • Work within a project team and contribute to wider Franklin challenges.
  • Lead major contributions to outputs from research including papers and patents.
  • Support and develop others including supervision of students or visitors.
