Job summary

Proactive Technical Limited is seeking a Toolroom Manager to lead a skilled team of toolmakers and trainees, coordinating workloads and production requirements. The role focuses on delivering high-quality tooling on time and within budget.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage tooling development and maintenance activities, and collaborate with manufacturing, planning, and sales to ensure tooling needs are understood and met.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Toolroom/Toolmaking or engineering management environment.
• Strong people management and leadership within a skilled technical team.
• Experience managing workloads and resources in a manufacturing setting.
• Solid understanding of tooling manufacture, development, repair and maintenance.
• Experience with progression press tooling advantageous.
• Knowledge of toolroom equipment such as Wire EDM, grinding, milling and turning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day Toolroom activities and develop skilled personnel.
• Plan workloads, resources, deadlines and priorities to meet customer and production needs.
• Oversee tooling development from concept to commissioning.
• Manage tooling development, repairs and ongoing maintenance.
• Ensure tooling meets quality, efficiency and delivery standards.
• Establish preventative and predictive maintenance to maximise availability.
• Monitor capacity and minimise downtime and lost production time.
• Track performance against KPIs and operational targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling processes and capabilities.
• Research new toolmaking technologies and equipment.
