Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Toolroom Manager to lead a skilled toolmaking team and drive tooling development, maintenance and process improvements. You will manage workloads, resources and production priorities to meet quality, cost and schedule targets.

The role focuses on overseeing tooling development from concept to commissioning, ensuring definitions, standards and proactive maintenance are in place, while collaborating with manufacturing, planning and sales to deliver customer

Qualifications

• Proven experience within a Toolroom, Toolmaking or engineering management environment.
• Strong people management and leadership experience, particularly within a highly skilled technical team.
• Experience managing workloads, resources and competing priorities within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of tooling manufacture, development, repair and maintenance.
• Experience with progression press tooling would be advantageous.
• Knowledge or experience of Toolroom equipment such as Wire EDM, grinding, milling and turning.
• Experience coordinating resources to achieve defined outcomes.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD/design software such as SolidWorks would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Toolroom, including the development and support of skilled engineering personnel
• Manage workloads, resources, deadlines and priorities to ensure customer and production requirements are achieved
• Oversee the development and manufacture of new tooling from initial concept through to commissioning
• Manage tooling development, modifications, repairs and ongoing maintenance
• Ensure tooling and associated work meet required standards for quality, efficiency and on-time delivery
• Establish effective preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise tooling availability and minimise downtime
• Manage labour and machine capacity to maximise efficiency and minimise lost production time
• Monitor departmental performance against agreed targets, KPIs and operational objectives
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling processes, equipment, capacity and capability
• Research and support the introduction of new toolmaking technologies, equipment and processes
• Work closely with manufacturing, production planning, sales and other departments to ensure tooling requirements are understood and delivered
• Monitor tooling performance and investigate variations, quality issues and production problems
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, collaboration and accountability within the Toolroom

Position: Toolroom Manager

Proactive are currently recruiting for a Toolroom Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing business.

As a Toolroom Manager, you'll lead a skilled team of toolmakers and trainees, managing workloads, resources and production requirements while ensuring tooling is delivered to the required quality, cost and timescales.
