Remit
- As a Plastic Injection Mould Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, modification and maintenance of injection mould tooling, working from technical drawings and 3D CAD data.
- The role will involve supporting the development of the toolroom, processes and equipment, with the opportunity to take responsibility for apprentice development and progress towards covering the Technical Manager.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Injection Mould Toolmaker to join an established team with opportunities for further training, development and career progression.
Responsibilities
- You will be required to manufacture new injection mould tools from technical drawings and 3D CAD data to a high standard of workmanship.
- You will be responsible for repairing, modifying and maintaining existing production tooling to ensure tooling remains in optimum working condition.
- You will be required to work with fully hardened steel production tools, including hot runner systems, valve gates and manifolds.
- You will be required to support the development and improvement of tooling, processes and equipment across the toolroom.
- You will be responsible for supporting the management and development of apprentices within the toolroom.
- You will be required to maintain accurate records of completed tool maintenance and repair work using the systems and databases provided.
- You will be expected to ensure tooling is correctly marked and labelled and that all relevant records are maintained.
- You will be encouraged to identify and suggest improvements to tooling, productivity and processes as part of the company’s continual improvement programme.
- You will be required to maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S throughout the toolroom and surrounding areas.
Requirements
- Qualified Plastic Injection Mould Toolmaker.
- Proven experience manufacturing, repairing and maintaining injection mould tooling.
- CNC machining experience.
- CAD/CAM experience with the ability to work from 2D drawings and 3D CAD data.
- Experience working with fully hardened steel production tools.
- Experience with hot runner systems, including valve gates and manifolds.
- Experience or the ability to manage and support an apprentice.
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard of workmanship.
- Proactive approach to identifying improvements in tooling, processes and productivity.
- Ability to work safely and effectively with toolroom machinery and equipment.
- Good understanding of housekeeping, 5S and maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
