About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker / Machinist to join our team. This hands-on role involves the setup and operation of conventional machines including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and components for production.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders to manufacture and modify components.
2. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
3. Measure and inspect components using precision measuring instruments (micrometres, callipers, gauges).
4. Fit and assemble parts to close tolerances.
5. Maintain and repair existing tooling and fixtures.
6. Ensure all work is performed to high standards of quality and safety.
7. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tool designs and performance.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as a tool maker or manual machinist.
2. Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
3. Skilled in the use of conventional machine tools and hand-finishing techniques.
4. Good understanding of materials and machining tolerances.
5. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
6. Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship preferred.
