Job summary

The Ashmolean Museum, part of the University of Oxford, seeks a friendly, professional team member to respond to visitor ticketing enquiries by email and phone, support ticketing systems, process refunds and exchanges, and maintain event information. The role is onsite and requires flexibility to work across seven days, including some Bank Holidays.

You will have GCSE English and Maths, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, be a strong team player or able to work independently, and

About the Role


You will join the Retail & Ticketing Team at the Ashmolean Museum, the University of Oxford’s world-class museum of art and archaeology. Situated in the heart of Oxford, the Ashmolean is an iconic cultural destination, open to everyone every day.


You will provide a welcoming and professional service to visitors, responding to ticketing and event booking enquiries by email and telephone and supporting the smooth operation of the Museum’s ticketing systems.


You will process ticket refunds and exchanges, assist with maintaining event and ticketing information, and work closely with colleagues across Exhibitions, Education, Membership, Finance, Visitor Experience and IT.


The role is based onsite at the Ashmolean Museum and requires flexibility to work across seven days, including some Bank Holidays.


This is a permanent variable hours post, paid as claimed. The hours will vary according to the operational requirements of the Museum.


About You


You will be educated to at least GCSE standard, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics, and will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for interacting with visitors and customers.


You will be a strong team player who is also confident working independently. You will have good IT literacy, including experience of or confidence using EPoS, email and telephone systems, Microsoft Word and Excel. You will be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your time effectively.
