Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) – Special School
Location: North London | Term-Time or Full-Time Contract
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner)
Are you a passionate and forward-thinking Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with complex needs?
A specialist school in North London is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SaLT to join its multidisciplinary team. The setting supports children aged 3–11 with a range of diagnoses including autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan and deliver targeted and individualised speech and language therapy programmes
Work closely with teaching staff, support staff, occupational therapists and parents to integrate communication strategies across the school day
Develop and deliver staff training around communication approaches (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC)
Monitor and review pupil progress and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Support pupils both in-class and in dedicated therapy sessions, using a child-centred and evidence-based approach
Requirements:
Recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
HCPC registration and RCSLT membership
Experience (or strong interest) in working with children with SEN, particularly ASD, SLCN, and/or PMLD
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A flexible and collaborative approach to working within a school-based team
