This post is based at Cygnet Hospital Harrow, delivering SLT input to two wards providing rehabilitation for men with mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. The individuals are supported through a specialist pathway focusing on recovery, meaningful activity, and engagement in community initiatives. Our aim is to support service users to live as independently as possible.
We have two posts available: one suitable for a newly qualified SLT (Band 5) seeking their first role, and another for an experienced SLT aiming to develop expertise in Autism, Mental Health, and leadership (Band 6).
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver evidence-based services to a complex client group in an inpatient setting, working within a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities include assessment, advising, intervention, training others, and promoting inclusive communication. You will report to the Director of SLT for Healthcare and the onsite service manager, working alongside another SLT and receiving supervision from an experienced SLT familiar with the client group and setting.
