Job summary

Compass Community in Beverley invites applications for Teaching Assistants in our school, where children with SEMH needs require dedicated support. You will assist learning, work 1:1 or in small groups, and help manage resources while maintaining a safe, positive classroom environment.

Training and development are a core part of the role. We value resilience, adaptability and strong communication to support pupils and their families in a trauma-informed setting.

Qualifications

• Have a good basic understanding of English and Maths
• Strong behaviour management skills and excellent communication to keep children safe when experiencing heightened behaviours
• Role requires resilience, persistence and a solution-focused mindset with flexibility to adapt quickly

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups
• Manage classroom resources
• Take children on educational trips
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially
• Create, displays and learning environments that support teaching
• Participate in therapeutic training sessions and reflective practice
