Job summary

A leading company in advance non-invasive treatments is seeking a committed Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer for 12 months maternity cover. Qualifications

The Thornbury Radiosurgery Department is a specialist centre of excellence located within Thornbury Hospital, dedicated to providing advanced, non-invasive treatment for complex neurological and oncological conditions. We are proud to be one of the few centres in the region offering stereotactic radiosurgery, using state of the art equipment to deliver highly precise care with minimal impact on patients’ quality of life. Our team includes expert neurosurgeons, neuro radiologists, medical physicists and radiographers, all working collaboratively in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. About the Role:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer to join our expert team at the Thornbury Radiosurgery Department. The role involves assisting in the delivery of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery, a specialist treatment for selected brain tumours and other intracranial conditions. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient treatment while contributing to continuous service improvements. You will also have the opportunity to gain specialist experience in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), working alongside leading clinical experts in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning and delivery of Gamma Knife radiosurgery treatments.
  • Provide high-quality patient care, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the treatment process.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including consultants, medical physicists, and specialist nurses.
  • Assist in implementing new patient pathways and best practices to improve clinical service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national clinical governance standards, including HCPC and IR(ME)R regulations.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and assist in quality assurance (QA) processes.
  • Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and training opportunities to enhance specialist skills.

About You:

  • BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent qualification.
  • HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
  • Strong interest in stereotactic radiosurgery and a willingness to develop specialist skills.
  • Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate and professional approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Previous experience in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) or Gamma Knife treatment.
  • Experience working in a specialist radiotherapy or oncology setting.
  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R and clinical governance regulations.
