Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Therapeutic Endoscopy CNS to lead patient referrals, scheduling, and pathway management for advanced endoscopic procedures. You will monitor waiting lists, optimise list utilisation and contribute to service development and governance, ensuring safe, efficient care and reduced waiting times.

The role requires extensive post-registration experience in a specialist area, NMC registration, and post-qualification

Qualifications

• Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
• Degree and post-registration qualifications or equivalent experience
• Completion of Band 5 preceptorship competencies and learning-support
• Experience in supporting learners and colleagues to promote practice-based learning
• Extensive post-registration experience in the specialist area
• Understanding of current issues in acute health services
• Ability to communicate clinical information clearly and with accountability
• Awareness of personal learning needs and proactive seeking guidance

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals, booking and scheduling for advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures to ensure timely access to care.
• Act as primary point of contact for patients throughout treatment pathway, providing information and navigation.
• Manage and track endoscopy waiting lists and utilisation of capacity; escalate delays as needed.
• Produce reports on list utilisation, outcomes and service activity.
• Maintain therapeutic endoscopy databases and support data collection for audits.
• Escalate clinical concerns to appropriate clinical team members.
• Contribute to development of clinical pathways, SOPs and patient information resources.
• Review procedure-related complications and governance issues as part of quality improvement.
• Provide specialist advice and clinical support to patients, endoscopy booking team and healthcare professionals.
• Support service evaluation, clinical audit and quality improvement projects.

Education

Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at Level 6

Post registration qualification within area of speciality or equivalent experience

Completion of Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies

Evidence of supporting/ managing learners in practice

Evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice

Extensive post registration experience within specialist area
