Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced leader to manage the Endoscopy department, overseeing day-to-day operations and supporting the Endoscopist during procedures.

You will ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centred care, comply with infection prevention policies, contribute to the JAG submission, and drive clinical governance and staff development within the unit.

Responsibilities

• Complete all written documentation efficiently and accurately
• Ensure appropriate and safe care of patients throughout their time in the endoscopy department
• Ensure accurate records of patients care and progress are maintained
• Keep the working environment as safe as possible and compliant with company, professional and legal requirements and guidelines
• Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures
• Liaise with the Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) decontamination team at the Horton Endoscopy Unit regarding endoscope availability
• Assist the Endoscopist during procedures, with competence in the use of snares and in polyp and biopsy collection
• Admit, recover and discharge patients in a timely manner
• Proactively monitor patients level of discomfort or pain and take appropriate action to keep them comfortable
• Provide quality care across the whole endoscopy patient pathway
• Maintain a safe environment and act on any discrepancies or issues that may affect patient safety
• Provide specialist advice and support as required
• Participate in and support staff with in-service training and development
• Actively and consistently promote the highest standard of patient care
• Comply with and participate in the hospitals clinical governance framework within the department, seeking advice or guidance where necessary
• Participate in the agreed clinical audit programme
