Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an experienced clinical practitioner to join the theatre department as a Band 6 Team Leader. You will lead Nurses and ODPs, delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a fast-paced theatre setting while supporting service delivery across the North Sector theatres.

Base location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role requires theatre experience, dual scrub/anaesthetic training, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
• Theatre experience.
• Dual trained in scrub and anaesthetic skills.
• Evidence of continual professional development.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good IT skills.
• Ability to work flexibly within a 24/7 service.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
• Enthusiasm for working within a theatre environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Nurses and ODPs within the theatre department.
• Oversee patient care and staff management within the theatre environment.
• Undertake care planning and ensure high standards of person-centred care.
• Provide clinical leadership and promote effective teamwork.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and best practice standards.
• Support the education, supervision, and mentorship of staff and students.
• Work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse to achieve departmental objectives and targets.
• Contribute to flexible and effective service delivery across the theatre department.
