Job summary

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Theatre Support Worker to assist in operating theatres, under supervision of a registered nurse or operating department practitioner. The role starts at Band 2 and progresses to Band 3 on completing the care certificate and theatre competences.

You will support equipment preparation, maintain stock levels, and assist with patient transfers and sterile packing as the case progresses. This is a full-time, fixed-term post lasting 12 months.

Qualifications

• Holds National Care Certificate or is willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks.
• Experience of working with the general public is desirable.
• Able to apply person-centred values (privacy, dignity, respect, equality, confidentiality) in care environments.
• Genuine interest in compassionate caring and ability to deal with challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the multi-skilled team in delivering surgical care in Operating theatres.
• Organise and prepare equipment and supplies for operating lists and maintain clean, stocked areas.
• Assist with gowning/gloving and sterile packing as needed by theatre staff.
• Ensure safety and maintenance of equipment and report faults as trained.
