Job summary

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Theatre Support Worker to assist in operating theatres under the supervision of a registered nurse or operating department practitioner, contributing to patient care across varied surgical teams.

You will start at band 2 and progress to band 3 on completion of the care certificate and the Theatre support worker competences, with development opportunities within a busy NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks.
• Desirable: National Care Certificate holder; Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
• Experience of working with the public and strong communication skills.
• Awareness of person-centred values, privacy, dignity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support the multi-skilled team in delivering surgical care in operating theatres.
• Assist with equipment preparation and stock control for operating lists.
• Ensure theatres and related areas are clean, tidy and well stocked.
• Handle and dispose of clinical waste according to policy.

National Care Certificate

Functional skills level 1 Maths and English

GCSE equivalent

Vocational qualification Level 2 in Health/Health and Social Care
