Job summary

Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the scrub team on a full-time 37.5 hour contract. You will support the surgical team, maintain sterility, and ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative pathway.

The role requires theatre experience and HCPC/NMC registration, with opportunities for professional development and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with theatre experience.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; provide post-operative care and patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful theatre environment.
