Job summary

Welbeck is recruiting a Theatre Scrub Practitioner (Nurse or ODP) to deliver perioperative care in a fast‑paced day surgery environment. You will scrub and circulate, support safety checks, and maintain high clinical standards across multiple specialties.

You will work with consultants and multidisciplinary teams, taking a lead when required and contributing to service improvement, governance and quality initiatives. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current NMC or HCPC registration.
• Strong scrub practice and capability in perioperative care.
• Leadership potential and mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Act as a skilled scrub or circulating practitioner, supporting a range of surgical procedures
• Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred perioperative care at all times
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure all documentation reflects patient care and outcomes
• Promote WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and best practice guidelines
• Support theatre efficiency, including list management and patient flow
• Act as a mentor and role model to junior staff and learners
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safeguarding, and clinical governance standards
• Escalate incidents, risks, or concerns appropriately and contribute to a culture of safety
