Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Patient Access Officer to join the central booking office at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. You will support theatre list scheduling across multiple specialties and help cover annual leave and sickness in a fast-paced NHS environment.

Experience in In-patient/Patient Access is advantageous; full training will be provided. Strong organisation, confident telephone manner and good IT skills are required to ensure accurate data entry

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive professional and efficient patient monitoring and waiting list service within prescribed timescales.
• Monitor patients admitted pathway from referral to treatment for all specialties in accordance with the Trust’s Patient Access Policy and NHS targets (RTT 18 weeks, 31 and 62 day cancer targets).
• Ensure efficient use of theatres.
• Enter and update patient details on to Lorenzo system and Theatreman.
• Communicate effectively with Consultants, clinical teams, patients, relatives and GPs.
