Job summary

Circle Health Group in the UK is seeking a Theatre Practitioner for the Recovery department at Bishops Wood Hospital (Middlesex). This full-time role provides 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern and up to £39,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will support the surgical team, assist anaesthetist prep, monitor patients post-operatively, and uphold infection control and patient safety standards in a dynamic theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration.
• Experience or training in theatre scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
• Support the anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
