Job summary

Circle Reading Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, invites applications for a Theatre Practitioner in Anaesthetics. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a salary of up to £40,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will support the surgical team, manage anaesthetic preparation, ensure patient safety, and contribute to a collaborative theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration.
• Experience or training in theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and adapt quickly.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring equipment safety.
• Support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and discharge readiness.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment and report faults.
