Job summary

Mid Essex Sterile Supplies Department is recruiting motivated individuals to wash, inspect, pack and sterilise surgical instruments, ensuring the best decontamination service for our customers and patients.

You will receive training, supporting development and exposure to capital equipment, with supervision from senior staff to maintain HTM standards and a high level of patient safety within the NHS setting.

Qualifications

• Washing, inspecting, packing and sterilising surgical instruments to HTM 01 standards.
• Willing to undertake externally accredited training and develop in decontamination processes.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to work in the disinfection area, wash area, sterilization room and distribution section with training and support.
• Operate capital equipment safely following work instructions and parameters.
• Work as requested by STOs, seniors and intermediates to ensure user requirements are met.
• Ensure reusable invasive medical devices are fit for purpose, clean and reprocessed to HTM standards.
• Follow reprocessing actions to be delivered safely and timely.
• Report equipment failures to a senior colleague promptly for repair.
• Work as part of the team to ensure timely delivery of all work.
• Assist senior staff with final checks on devices out of hours if requested.
