Job summary

Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull is seeking a Permanent full-time Theatre Assistant to support the theatre team in surgical procedures and patient care. The role includes assisting scrub nurses, transporting patients, and preparing equipment according to sterile protocols, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Candidates should have an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or Care Certificate and prior Healthcare Assistant experience. Shifts run 7.30am–8pm, 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or Care Certificate or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Support the theatre team during surgical procedures.
• Assist scrub nurses and other clinical colleagues in theatre.
• Provide support to patients in the anaesthetic room.
• Transport patients safely to and from theatre and ward areas.
• Prepare theatre equipment and open sterile packs to protocols.
• Check and prepare surgical instruments before procedures.
• Assist with stock management and inventory control.
• Maintain a clean, safe theatre environment to infection prevention standards.
• Contribute to high-quality patient care and a positive patient experience.
• Support the theatre team to run theatres safely and efficiently.

Job description

Permanent full-time Theatre Assistant post within the theatre team at Spire Parkway Hospital, a private hospital. The role supports surgical procedures, assists scrub nurses, looks after patients in the anaesthetic room and moves them between theatre and wards, while preparing equipment, sterile packs and stock. Shifts run from 7.30am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday, across 37.5 hours a week. An NVQ Level 2 or Care Certificate is expected, along with healthcare assistant experience.

What the job involves

• Preparing theatre equipment and opening sterile packs to clinical protocols

• Assisting with stock management, equipment ordering and inventory control
• Maintaining a clean, safe theatre environment to infection prevention and control standards

Qualifications
