Job summary

Leonardo UK seeks a Project Engineering Manager to lead the Test Engineering team in Basildon, coordinating a multi‑disciplinary group to deliver enhanced test capability that aligns with roadmaps, production needs and support requirements.

The role demands strong leadership, clear communication with stakeholders across sites, and the ability to develop and execute engineering plans with strict schedule and budget controls. Hybrid working is offered.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Test Solutions in a high tech environment, utilising common systems to develop an end to end solution.
• Ability to produce clear concise engineering plans.
• Good problem-solving ability.
• Good schedule and budget control.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial awareness.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, across multiple sites.
• Strong leadership competency and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business process.

Responsibilities

• Establish and prioritise forward load requirements and expand the multi-discipline team to translate requirements into test strategies, implementation plans and solutions.
• Manage day-to-day project tasks of a multi-disciplined engineering team with clear roles.
• Build positive relationships with customers and partners to deliver project capability.
• Maintain open communication across Engineering IPTs, with IPT leads, Project Managers and functional heads.
• Work with Design Authorities and Systems Design Authorities to keep informed on progress, risks and mitigations.
• Ensure design solutions meet end-user requirements, are reliable, documented and environment-compatible.
• Align design solutions with the product road map and ensure proper configuration control.
• Support supplier management and make-or-buy decisions.
