Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Test Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Cramlington. You will provide essential Test Engineering support across manufacturing, diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems to keep production on schedule.

The role requires a solid foundation in electrical/test engineering, hands-on troubleshooting down to component level and the ability to generate test specifications and operator instructions for production teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in electrical/electronic test engineering and fault diagnosis down to component level.
• Knowledge of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles.
• Experience generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Providing Test Engineering support to operators on the shopfloor.
• Supporting the introduction and implementation of new test equipment.
• Testing and diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems, sub-assemblies and circuit cards down to component level.
• Applying digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles to identify and resolve faults.
• Generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher-level requirements and technical information.
• Promptly identifying remedial and corrective actions following production test failures.
• Working closely with Manufacturing to ensure production can continue in line with programme requirements.
• Supporting investigations into test failures and providing appropriate technical solutions.
• Supporting meetings with Quality and Operations, providing updates on Test Engineering actions, investigations and progress.
• Planning and organising workload effectively in line with assigned priorities.

This an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, friendly and inclusive manufacturing environment, working as part of a dedicated team of engineers. You will provide essential Test Engineering support across manufacturing, helping to diagnose complex electrical and electronic systems and ensuring production continues efficiently and to programme.

Responsibilities:

• Providing Test Engineering support to operators on the shopfloor
• Supporting the introduction and implementation of new test equipment
• Testing and diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems, sub-assemblies and circuit cards down to component level
• Applying digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles to identify and resolve faults

Skills:

• Minimum HNC level Engineering qualification or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience in electrical/electronic test engineering and fault diagnosis down to component level
• Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Awareness of electrical/electronic subsystem and system design, integration and test principles
• Experience generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing, Quality and Operations teams
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
• A methodical and analytical approach to problem solving
