Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Test Engineer to join its manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment. You will provide essential test engineering support across production, diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems to keep production on programme.

Ideal candidates will hold an HNC or equivalent, with demonstrable fault-diagnosis experience and a methodical, analytical approach. Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide Test Engineering support to shopfloor operators.
• Support introduction and implementation of new test equipment.
• Test and diagnose complex electrical/electronic systems to component level.
• Apply digital and analogue measurement principles to identify faults.
• Generate test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.
• Identify remedial actions following production test failures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure production stays on programme.
• Assist investigations into test failures and provide technical solutions.
• Support meetings with Quality and Operations; provide progress updates.
• Plan and organise workload according to priorities.

Position: Test Engineer

Location: Cramlington

This an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, friendly and inclusive manufacturing environment, working as part of a dedicated team of engineers. You will provide essential Test Engineering support across manufacturing, helping to diagnose complex electrical and electronic systems and ensuring production continues efficiently and to programme.

Responsibilities:

• Providing Test Engineering support to operators on the shopfloor
• Supporting the introduction and implementation of new test equipment
• Testing and diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems, sub-assemblies and circuit cards down to component level
• Applying digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles to identify and resolve faults
• Generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher-level requirements and technical information
• Promptly identifying remedial and corrective actions following production test failures
• Working closely with Manufacturing to ensure production can continue in line with programme requirements
• Supporting investigations into test failures and providing appropriate technical solutions
• Supporting meetings with Quality and Operations, providing updates on Test Engineering actions, investigations and progress
• Planning and organising workload effectively in line with assigned priorities

Skills:

• Minimum HNC level Engineering qualification or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience in electrical/electronic test engineering and fault diagnosis down to component level
• Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Awareness of electrical/electronic subsystem and system design, integration and test principles
• Experience generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing, Quality and Operations teams
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
• A methodical and analytical approach to problem solving
