Job summary
The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing technical support for board level, sub-system, and system level test equipment.
Important
All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.
Location: Harlow (fully onsite)
Duration: 12-month contract
Multiple opportunities available for both permanent and contract roles!
Responsibilities:
- Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Take responsibility for the quality of the test equipment and provide leadership to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications and participate in design reviews.
- Develop robust and reliable test hardware solutions based on complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical items with an understanding of system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system designs, interfaces, and protocols.
- Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by resolving product queries and technical issues.
- Manage obsolescence and support test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
- Monitor and report progress on test development.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
- Undertake additional activities as requested by management.
- Apply Design Review Processes.
- Manage engineering risks and opportunities.
- Guide Test Development processes and tools.
- Assist in resource planning using Microsoft Project.
- Lead small to medium scale test engineering programs.
- Identify and engage subject matter experts for activities.
- Contribute to standard test development processes and review gates.
- Serve as key interface to external customers and suppliers.
- Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support design handover and management in production.
- Support system integration and debugging.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
- Use of Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of test architectures like PXI/lXI.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design.
- Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
