Job Description:
The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing technical support for test equipment at board, sub-system, and system levels.
Responsibilities:
- Design functional test equipment for circuits, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Ensure quality and provide leadership to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications and participate in reviews.
- Develop robust test hardware solutions for complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical items and understand system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system design and interfaces.
- Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to validate hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and answering product queries.
- Manage obsolescence of test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
- Monitor and report progress on test development.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
- Support other activities as requested by management.
- Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
- Guide test development processes and tools.
- Contribute to resource planning using Microsoft Project.
- Lead small to medium test engineering programs.
- Identify and engage SMEs for test activities.
- Approve and contribute to standard test development processes.
- Interface with external customers and suppliers.
- Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support design handover and management in production.
- Support and debug system integration.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Defence, Aerospace, or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
- Proficiency with Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of test architectures like PXI and LXI.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design and validation.
- Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
