Job Title: Senior Test & Development Engineer

Location: Harlow (fully onsite)

Duration: 12 months

Job Type: Multiple opportunities available, both permanent and contract

Requirements: Must be able to obtain Security Clearance

Job Description:

The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing technical support for test equipment at board, sub-system, and system levels.

Responsibilities:

1. Design functional test equipment for circuits, sub-assemblies, and systems.
2. Ensure quality and provide leadership to junior engineers.
3. Document design specifications and participate in reviews.
4. Develop robust test hardware solutions for complex system requirements.
5. Implement detailed technical items and understand system-level components.
6. Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system design and interfaces.
7. Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to validate hardware operation.
8. Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and answering product queries.
9. Manage obsolescence of test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
10. Monitor and report progress on test development.
11. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
12. Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
13. Support other activities as requested by management.
14. Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
15. Guide test development processes and tools.
16. Contribute to resource planning using Microsoft Project.
17. Lead small to medium test engineering programs.
18. Identify and engage SMEs for test activities.
19. Approve and contribute to standard test development processes.
20. Interface with external customers and suppliers.
21. Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
22. Write comprehensive technical documentation.
23. Support design handover and management in production.
24. Support and debug system integration.

Desired Skills:

1. Experience in Defence, Aerospace, or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
2. Proficiency with Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
3. Understanding of test architectures like PXI and LXI.
4. Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design and validation.
5. Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
