Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing through-life technical support for board-level, sub-system, and system-level test equipment.

Important:

All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.

Location: Harlow (fully onsite)

Duration: 12-month contract

Multiple opportunities are available, with roles for both permanent and contract team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
2. Take responsibility for the design quality and provide leadership for junior engineers.
3. Document design specifications and participate in design reviews, maintaining standards and methodologies.
4. Develop robust and reliable test hardware solutions to meet complex system requirements.
5. Implement detailed technical items with an understanding of system-level components.
6. Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system design, interfaces, and protocols.
7. Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
8. Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and product queries.
9. Manage obsolescence and support lifecycle of test hardware.
10. Report progress of test development to supervisors and teams.
11. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
12. Conduct activities aligned with company values, policies, and ethics.
13. Undertake additional activities as requested by management.
14. Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
15. Guide Test Development processes and tools.
16. Contribute to resource planning using tools like Microsoft Project.
17. Lead small/medium test engineering programs.
18. Identify and engage SMEs for testing activities.
19. Contribute to standard test development processes and review gates.
20. Act as key interface to external customers and suppliers.
21. Possess excellent knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
22. Write comprehensive technical documentation and support design handover to production.
23. Support/debug system integration.

Desired Skills:

1. Experience in Defence, Aerospace, or safety-regulated environments.
2. Proficiency with Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
3. Understanding of test architectures like PXI/LXI.
4. Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design.
5. Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
