Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Learning and Pastoral Support Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team. You will help young people with SEMH, Autism, and ADHD thrive in a supportive, structured environment.

You will work with teachers on EHCP/IEP plans, support learning in small classes, and promote a safe, restorative approach. Term-time only hours—8:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday—and DBS checks will be required.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/5 or Level 2 equivalent.
• Experience supporting SEND or SEMH needs.
• 3 to 6 months of experience in an educational setting working with challenging behaviours.
• A proactive, dedicated attitude and a genuine commitment to student welfare.
• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship).
• Willingness to complete a full enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students in small, focused class settings with both learning and pastoral care
• Using Trauma-Informed Practice and tailored activities to help students build independence
• Working alongside teachers on EHCP and IEP plans while tracking student progress
• Fostering a safe, positive environment using restorative behaviour frameworks
