Job summary

East Midlands Education Trust invites applications for a Teaching Assistant at John Flamsteed Community School. This 16.5 hours per week, term-time post runs Monday to Friday with a 30-minute lunch break. Salary ranges from £10,413.20 to £10,747.54 and starts as a permanent role.

You will work alongside teachers to support pupils in and out of the classroom, focusing on reading, literacy, numeracy, and inclusive learning. DBS checks and UK work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
• Willingness to discuss at interview.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with their learning and helping them to progress.
• Working with individual pupils and small groups under supervision.
• Supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and resources preparation.
• Providing support with reading, literacy, numeracy and other curriculum activities.
• Supervising pupils during lessons, breaks and other activities.
• Supporting pupils' social and emotional development.
• Maintaining appropriate records and communicating relevant information to staff.
• Promoting the school's values, expectations and behaviour standards.
• Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
