Job summary

Burnley High School seeks a hardworking Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic, flexible and committed. The role is term-time only with a salary range of £22,150 to £22,500 per annum.

The post involves supporting learning in the classroom under teaching staff, helping pupils with literacy, numeracy and behaviour management. Applicants should have GCSE English and Maths at level 9–5 and experience working with children.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Mathematics at level 9–5.
• Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.
• Knowledge of The National Curriculum and Schemes of Work in Literacy and Numeracy.
• How to support phonics and reading development including use of cued articulation.
• Proven ability to listen to, understand and work effectively with all children, staff and parents/carers.

Responsibilities

• To work under direct instruction in the classroom, supporting learning and managing pupils.
• Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and promote inclusion.
• Provide teacher support, supervision and learning opportunities in non-lesson activities.
