Job summary

Birches First School in Codsall is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for children with special educational needs. This 25.5-hour per week role runs Monday to Friday during term time, with a fixed end date in 2027, and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference.

You will work 1-to-1 and in small groups, assist planning and assessment, follow guidance from specialists, maintain records, and liaise with teachers, SENDCo, therapists and parents to

Qualifications

• L2 TA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Ability to adapt learning and planning to meet a child’s specific needs.
• Skills in assessment and recording progress.
• Willingness to undertake personal care needs if required.
• Excellent communication skills with children, parents, colleagues and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Support children's learning and development through engaging activities that inspire curiosity and creativity.
• Work collaboratively with the team to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
• Help children develop social, emotional, and academic skills.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues to help pupils thrive.
• Contribute to planning and assessment to meet individual needs.
• Follow recommendations from educational psychologists and therapists.
• Provide feedback to teachers, SENDCo and parents as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and support provided.
• Liaise effectively with class teachers, SENDCo, therapists and parents.
