Job summary

LVS Ascot is seeking a proactive Science Technician to join its busy School science department. You will prepare equipment, chemicals and biological materials, keep laboratories safe and well organised, and support teachers during practical lessons.

You will handle routine safety, assist with stock checks, maintain records and help with science enrichment activities. The role requires accuracy, initiative and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory or practical science environment.
• Ability to prepare scientific equipment and materials accurately and safely.
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards.
• Organised and able to manage competing requests and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, setting out and clearing away apparatus, specimens, cultures, solutions, reagents and other materials for practical lessons and demonstrations.
• Preparing, labelling, diluting and storing chemicals accurately and safely.
• Trialling practical activities and identifying potential hazards before lessons.
• Providing technical assistance during practical activities under teaching staff.
• Supporting biology practical work and handling of biological materials and specimens.
• Cleaning, maintaining and decontaminating laboratory equipment.
• Carrying out routine equipment checks and maintaining records.
• Inspecting damaged equipment and arranging repairs or disposal.
• Monitoring stock levels, deliveries and stock takes.
• Ensuring laboratories and preparation rooms are safe, clean and well organised.
