Job summary

LVS Ascot is seeking a proactive Science Technician to provide safe and efficient technical support in a busy school laboratory. You will prepare equipment and materials, maintain safe lab conditions and assist teachers with practical lessons across biology, chemistry and physics.

The role involves organising prep areas, handling chemicals safely, and ensuring labs are ready for use, with the safeguarding policies and COSHH compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory or practical science environment.
• Ability to prepare scientific equipment and materials accurately and safely.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistently high standards.
• Organised and able to manage competing requests and priorities.
• Proactive, can use initiative and identify tasks needing attention.
• Willing to develop new skills and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set out and clear away apparatus, specimens and materials for lessons and demonstrations.
• Label, dilute and store chemicals safely and accurately.
• Identify potential hazards before lessons and support staff during practical work.
• Maintain accurate records and carry out routine equipment checks.
• Support biology, chemistry and physics practical work and laboratory preparations.
• Keep laboratories clean, safe and well organised and report defects promptly.
