Job summary

Redbridge Secondary School in East London is seeking a Science Technician to support science teaching across Key Stages 3-4 and Post-16. This term-time only, 36-hour-per-week role offers a permanent position with salary £25,214 to £26,318 per annum and start date ASAP.

You will prepare, set up and maintain laboratory resources, ensuring safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will hold at least Level 3 in a science subject, GCSEs in English/Maths/Science, and be enthusiastic, well-organised

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
• GCSE English, Maths and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
• Good knowledge of laboratory procedures and health and safety practices.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and committed to supporting young people.
• Confident using ICT and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up practical experiments and demonstrations.
• Ensuring laboratory equipment and resources are well maintained.
• Supporting delivery of practical science lessons across key stages.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and keeping inventory records.
• Carrying out health and safety checks in laboratories and prep areas.
• Ensuring compliance with COSHH and safety regulations.
• Maintaining specialist equipment and arranging repairs when needed.
• Assisting with lesson planning and resource preparation.
• Supporting science enrichment activities, trips and events.
