Job summary

Falkirk Council is seeking a Senior Cook to join the Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting school kitchens across the Falkirk area. Based at Bowhouse Primary School, you will plan menus, cook meals and supervise Catering Assistants while managing rotas and on-the-job training.

You will ensure health, safety and allergen compliance, manage stock and budgets, and use Council systems for cash handling. Term-time, 30 hours weekly, Mon–Fri 8:00–14:30 with a 30-minute break, permanent and part-time.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and oversight in a supervisory kitchen or catering role.
• Ability to train and develop Catering Assistants and manage rotas.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and allergen control regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus, prepare and cook meals including transport to other sites.
• Supervise Catering Assistants, manage rotas and on-the-job training.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, hygiene and allergen standards.
• Oversee stock checks, equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies.
• Handle budgets, cash and transactions using the Council’s systems.
• Provide meals that meet nutritional standards and dietary needs.
