Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a School Crossing Patrol Officer for St John's Green Primary School, Colchester. The role involves supervising crossing points before and after school, ensuring pedestrian safety and engaging with the local community.

Shifts are 7.5 hours per week across 39 academic weeks, with uniform, equipment and training provided. The role requires punctuality, reliability and a courteous approach to the public.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted right to work in the UK.
• Ability to communicate with children and the public.

Responsibilities

• Consider the needs of people with disabilities using the crossing.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess risks and report problems/defects to supervisor.
• Assist in preparing reports on accidents and other incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniforms and equipment are maintained and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure road is clear of pedestrians.
